Found on the Acropolis. The lamp has a circular shape and tall body. Its outer surface is decorated with women’s heads alternating with a motif in the form of bundles, all rendered in relief. The women had inserted pupils in their eyes, made from different material. The lamp has three nozzles formed on top of the women’s heads that are connected to three separate partitions for the oil. Three additional nozzles with a common oil tank are located on the lamp’s upper surface.

The triangular face of the female heads with the flat skull and the wavy hair resembling a wig reflects oriental features of the so-called Daedalic style that flourished in Greece from the second half of the 7th cent. BC. The name derives from the mythical Daedalus who, according to ancient tradition, was a great architect, sculptor and founder of monumental sculpting.
